WASHINGTON (WTVA) -- The Federal Aviation Administration has announced it will delay an announcement on which airport control towers will lose staffing.
FAA officials were expected to announce the final list on Monday.
As part of cuts due to sequestration, FAA officials announced earlier this month they would no longer staff control towers at 189 small and medium-sized airports around the country.
They set a March 13th deadline for those airports to appeal the decision and prove they needed to maintain air-traffic controllers in their towers.
GTR Airport Executive Director Mike Hainsey and Tupelo Regional Airport Director Josh Abramson both filed appeals of the decision.
FAA officials say they received so many responses, they are delaying the Monday announcement until Friday, March 22 to give workers time to properly review the appeals.
