TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A new exhibit designed to educate boaters and children about safety on the water is at the Oren Dunn Museum.

The Army Corps of Engineers Water Safety and Sardis Dam Construction exhibit is open for the next three months.

It looks at the different recreational activities at Sardis Lake, which is located in north Mississippi.

With both spring and summer just around the corner, officials expect more people on the water.

The exhibit highlights boating safety requirements including wearing a life jacket.

"People will be out boating and fishing, children need to know how to be prepared when they go into a boat," said Janice Anthony, director and educator at the Oren Dunn Museum. ["They need] to know what safety devices they need to wear."

The final day for the public to view the exhibit is on June 15th.
