NEW AUGUSTA, Miss. (WTVA) -- Evacuations have been ordered in the town of New Augusta after a train derailment Friday morning.

WDAM TV reports 18 railcars overturned in the downtown area of the Perry County town.

Authorites have evacuated a 1000 feet area around the derailment because of a chemical spill.

The evacuation order has forced the closure of the west bound lanes of Highway 98.
