WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) — Several projects are underway in Clay County at the West Point 4-H Center.
Construction of new facilities adjacent to the 4-H Therapeutic Riding and Activity Center are in full swing.
In the works is work on a new outdoor learning system center where kids can learn about nature along with new trails where visitors will learn about the environment.
Work is also underway to build and pave a new access road in and out of the facility.
Also close to completion is a new all-terrain vehicle building. That will be used for training kids under the age of 16 to ride ATVs where they can get their certificate that is required by state law.
"Hopefully, the road is going to be completed this week," adds Dwight Prisock, superintendent of West Point Water & Light. "The outdoor living center should be completed, and the restroom should be completed by the end of March. We should have it for the spring so that we could really get the kids out here when spring comes around."
Clay County and West Point along with private donors are covering the expenses of the projects.
