TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Lee County Sheriff's Department and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit searched an apartment complex in Verona on Monday.
As a result of that search, authorities charged 66-year-old Malone Gillespie of Verona with possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute. Authorities also served Gillespie with two arrest warrants for the sale of crack cocaine.
A judge set Gillespie's bond Tuesday at $20,000.
"I guess what's unique about this is the age of the individual that was doing this," said Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson. "I think sometimes our younger people get the credit for drug-related offenses and all, but you can see it affects every age."
The sheriff added the charges could be enhanced because Gillespie's apartment was close to an elementary school.
