ECRU, Miss. (WTVA) -- They have a fight on their hands.
Those are the words of Ecru Mayor Tom Todd who says the residents of this Pontotoc County town are going to have to fight to keep their U.S. Post Office.
At a time when there is unprecedented growth in Ecru, federal officials are considering a number of options for this and several other Mississippi post offices.
Post offices may no longer have Saturday services.
Hours may be cut to six daily.
The post office could be relocated to the inside of a local store.
Post offices could be shut down completely.
"I am very concerned about it. I think it would hurt the town itself as far as having to drive to New Albany or Pontotoc. It would be an inconvenience," Cheryl Dillow said.
The public is urged to attend a meeting with postal officials in Ecru on Thursday, December 6 at 6 p.m. at the Ecru Town Hall.
