JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — State economists predict slow but improving growth for Mississippi's economy in the years ahead.
The forecast from the Institutions of Higher Learning says employment should pick up next year with help from the health care and construction sectors.
However, economists don't expect Mississippi to return to 2007 employment levels until 2018.
The state's economic report does have some good news.
It says some key economic indicators — residential building permits, housing starts and retail sales — are rising.
