WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- There is a one of a kind rodeo event getting ready to saddle up in north Mississippi.
East Mississippi Community College is hosting a collegiate rodeo in West Point.
Crews with the Eagle Ranch are busy applying the finishing touches to the ranch facilities.
The three day event features students from community and four year colleges.
This is the third collegiate rodeo of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association's 2013 Ozark Region spring schedule.
There will be a lot at stake for an estimated 350 contestants and their horses.
"They're coming here competing for championship points," said Luke Lummus, Eagle Ranch staff member. "The top four from each of these colleges goes to the national Finals which is held in Casper, Wyoming.
The National Finals is held during the first week of June every year.
The three day rodeo kicks off with a grand opening Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, the action starts at 7 p.m. and on Saturday the contestants will begin performing at 2 p.m.
