TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- There was lots of food and fun as some people wore hats and watched the Kentucky Derby Saturday afternoon.
The event took place not in Louisville, Ky., but in Tupelo where a large crowd showed up for the 15th Annual Kentucky Derby Fundraiser.
In all those years the event has helped to raise over $200,000 to help the Regional Rehabilitation Center in Tupelo where kids' treatment is provided free of charge.
"We have a silent auction. We have a live auction," fundraiser host Tom Evans said. "We have wonderful h'orderves, great music, the band, dancing if you want. This is the way we raise money."
Evans is an active member of the Regional Rehabilitation Center Board and says he hosts the fundraiser as a labor of love.
