ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) — Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said he will ask the Mississippi Crime Laboratory to examine a seven-and-a-half inch bone and a partial bone found Saturday to determine if they are from a human or an animal.

According to Cantrell, the discovery was made along an unpaved section of White Rock Road, which is in the western part of the county, after receiving a tip out of Arkansas.

The sheriff added that a veterinarian looked at the bones and said they did not appear to come from an animal.

The bones will be sent to the lab Monday.  It's unclear just how long the examination will take.
