PITTSBORO, Miss. (WTVA) -- It was a lively day in Calhoun County Justice Court.
Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan says an Oakland, Mississippi, man attacked another as court proceedings were ending last Wednesday.
The sheriff says a woman was getting an extension on a protection order against her estranged husband.
When the case was over, the woman and her brother, Gilbert Files, were leaving the courtroom.
The sheriff says that's when Files jumped on Morris Browning, striking him several times.
Files was apprehended and charged with simple assault.
Justice Court Judge Jim Vance held him in contempt of court and sent him to serve 30 days in jail.
