JACKSON,  Miss. (WTVA) -- An Alcorn County man has once again lost his effort to have a lower court decision overturned by the Mississippi Court of Appeals.

Troy Pittman, 54, is serving 30 years in prison on three counts of sexual battery and two counts of statutory rape.

Court records show he was denied post-conviction relief in Alcorn County Circuit Court and appealed.

Pittman claimed he had new evidence that entitled him to a new trial and did not receive effective legal counsel.

In April, the Mississippi Court of Appeals said the trial judge was correct to dismiss the motion for post-conviction relief.

On Tuesday, the court denied his request to rehear his case.
