CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) -- It's up to Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control to approve a new law for alcohol sales in Corinth.
The Corinth Board of Aldermen this week approved an ordinance which sets the ground rules for those sales.
Under the law, liquor stores will be open between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Sunday alcohol sales of liquor and beer can occur between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Monday through Saturday, alcoholic drinks will be available between 10 a.m. and midnight.
Aldermen Chip Wood said it was determined liquor stores should close an hour earlier than state regulations allow.
"That was something we as board members heard from the constituents. They prefer to close earlier in the night. There's no reason to have a liquor store open later at night, so we're hoping the state supports that," Alderman Chip Wood said.
A majority of voters in Corinth late last year legalized sales of liquor.
