PARIS, Tenn. (WTVA) -- A Tennessee company has announced a voluntarily recall of three ounce chicken salad sandwiches because of a possible Lysteria contamination.
Knott's Fine Foods, Inc. of Paris, Tennessee says the sandwiches have an expiration date of 1/29/13 and were sold at 35 retail stores in West Tennessee, Western Kentucky, and North Mississippi.
The product is packaged in a black wedge with clear plastic film closure and has UPC code is 0-11984-01132-6.
The expiration date is located on an orange sticker on the clear film of the package.
Knott's officials say All expiration dates 1/29/13 and earlier are being recalled.
There are not reports of illnesses associated with the sandwiches, but listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, or people with weakend immune systems.
The production of the product has been postponed while the FDA and the company continue to investigate the source of the problem.
Consumers who have purchased any of the above mentioned Knott's Chicken Salad Sandwiches are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
