TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- About a dozen Lee Acres Neighborhood Association volunteers cleaned-up Garfield Street in Tupelo Saturday.
They worked along the section of the street that runs from Gloster to President Avenue.
The group picked up trash and cleared out drainage ditches along the street.
Volunteers said their mission is to help the city with keeping the area clean so they can attract new people.
"When somebody goes down our streets we want them to look and say, 'Hey that's a beautiful neighborhood. I'd like to live there,' Lee Acres Neighborhood Association President Sherry Ashley said. "Because we want people in our neighborhood that are good people and that want to have pride in their neighborhood."
Ashley said this is the first street the group has cleaned up.
They plan to do the same to more streets in the community.
