Commissioner warns of home security telemarketers

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley is asking anyone who purchased a home security systme from a telemarketer in the last month to contact his office.

Presley says an investigation is underway into an illegal telemarketing scheme plaguing the state.

He says callers hear a recorded message saying homes in their neighborhood are being burglarized and customers need to purchase a security system.


Presley says investigators are working to gather evidence to prosecute the violators.

He says the calls were placed from a 767 or 425 area code.

Anyone who has completed a purchase of a home security system based on the recorded message is asked to contact Commissioner Brandon Presley's office at 1-800-637-7722, 1-800-356-6428 or at northern.district@psc.state.ms.us .
