TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — A woman heading to Corinth in her car had a close call Thursday night leaving Tupelo on Highway 145.

Just as she was about to cross under the Natchez Trace Parkway, a huge tree fell in front of her car sometime before 7 p.m.

The woman, who did not want to talk on camera, narrowly avoided the tree, and the vehicle behind her avoided smashing into her car.

Police say no one was hurt.

Traffic was backed up in both directions, and some 18-wheelers were stuck waiting since they could not turn around on the two-lane road.

The tree was removed, and the highway reopened to traffic before 8 p.m.
