Chief: Standoff ends without incident

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- A tense four-hour armed standoff with police has ended without incident, according to the police chief.

Chief Michael Ramey said officers took the unidentified man into custody at about 7:45 p.m.

Ramey tells WTVA the standoff the standoff started Saturday afternoon at the Waters Village apartment complex on the corner of Jefferson Street and Walker Avenue.

Ramey confirmed the man was armed and fired a shot before the standoff ended, but had no one else inside with him.

Tupelo's SWAT team arrived on the scene to assist in the situation.
