TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Charges have been filed against the man at the center of the Monday afternoon robbery in Tupelo.

Tupelo police have charged Brian P. Jones, 35, of Toney, Alabama with the robbery of the Renasant Bank on North Gloster Street in Tupelo.

Jones showed a note to tellers and ran from the bank on foot after taking money and wrapping it in paper.

A short time later, deputies from the Tishomingo County Sheriff's Office stopped Jones on the Natchez Trace Parkway.

They found marijuana and prescription pain killers in his vehicle.

Jones faces misdemeanor charges for possession.

Tupelo Police Department Officers then transported Jones to the Lee County Tupelo Adult Detention Facility.

He was charged Tuesday afternoon in the Tupelo robberies.

Booneville Police Chief Michael Ramey says Jones will also be charged with the robbery of the Renasant Bank in Booneville on Friday evening.
