OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA)--Officials confirmed charges have been dropped against a Mississippi man accused of sending ricin-laced letters.
Paul Kevin Curtis was released from the Lafayette County Jail on bond Tuesday afternoon.
A short time later, WTVA.com was notified the complaint against Curtis was dropped "without prejudice."
Defense Attorney Christi McCoy, along with Curtis, held a news conference late Tuesday afternoon in Oxford.
Curtis said he never heard of ricin. "I thought they said rice," said Curtis. "I don't even eat rice."
McCoy said she is relieved investigators have turned their attention to J. Everette Dutschke.
McCoy said she knew last week Curtis was innocent. "I knew Kevin had not done this."
