OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) _ The Ole Miss Alumni Association says it's proud of the school's tailgating tradition.
However, with the tradition has come the concern about unacceptable risks of fire and electrical shock from power usage.
The university has implemented some charges effective immediately to try and make sure visitors to campus are safe.
Ole Miss officials say electric generators with a decibel rating of 60 dBA or less are now permitted for tailgating use.
Power to all electrical outlets in the Grove will now be turned off on game days.
Extension cords may not be run across streets or sidewalks, and may not be run through windows or doors of campus buildings.
Only outlets on the exterior of buildings may be used for tailgating.
Officials say the circuits must not be overloaded by plugging in multiple extension cords, splitters, or power strips.
Game day rules and regulations can be found at www.olemissfb.com.
