ABERDEEN, Miss. - WTVA- Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randall is at odds with the Majority of the Board of Alderman.

In a 3-2 vote Aldermen have decided to take all the necessary steps to change wording in the city's special charter which would mean a police chief would go from an elected position to an appointed one.

This move comes at a time when Alderman are finalizing efforts to remove offensive nineteenth century language from the charter which refers to slavery.

Chief Henry Randall questions the timing of this decision. He believes this is personal.

Chief Randall plans to circulate petitions to have the issue of appointed vs elected put on the ballot.
