TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The group is called Christians On The Move To Evangelize.

They spent part of their Thanksgiving making sure others get a delicious meal.

Elder Glenda Payne with Temple of Compassion and Deliverance said, "We're serving turkey and dressing, green beans, corn, rolls and dessert."

Months ago, volunteers started cutting the celery and onions for the dressing.

This week, they started baking.

And on Thanksgiving the group delivers the meals to area jails, the hospital and others in need.

Volunteer Jayme McIntosh said, "To be able to get up in the morning and not find ourself in a tragic situation, we should be thankful enough to go out and try to make somebody else's day."

This program started small at the Temple of Compassion and Deliverance a quarter century ago.

Now, using Harrisburg Baptist Church as a distribution point, 850 plates were handed out on this Thanksgiving.

Volunteer Tami Moore said, "We're very blessed with our family being all local and to spend a lot of family time. We realize not all families are like that."

The message behind C.O.M.E. is simple.

Elder Payne said, "I have a business and my motto is we bring love to the table. That's the way I look at this, that we're bringing love to the table. I've been on that other side before where I wasn't able. Now I'm able to give out to someone else."

And for her and the hundreds of others of volunteers, that's what Thanksgiving is all about.
