Businessman charged with writing bad checks

GUNTOWN, Miss. (WTVA) -- The owner of a logging company operating in north Lee County has been arrested for passing bad checks.

Guntown Police Chief Michael Hall tells WTVA.com Larry Barefield, Jr., 45, of Bruce was arrested Thursday morning at his business.

Hall says Barefield will face felony charges for passing over $2,000 in bad checks to other businesses.

He says the logging company was doing work east of Guntown.

Hall says Barefield is also wanted by authorities in Marion County, Alabama on two counts of theft.
