TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA)--It is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Verizon Wireless is donating money to help victims in the area.

Representatives presented a $2,000 check to SAFE Incorporated Monday afternoon at the Lee County Library, but that's not all.

"We have hope line boxes in our stores. You can donate your old phones and we refurbish those devices and put minutes on them and donate them to agencies like SAFE Incorporated and the victims of domestic violence," said Lori Singleton of Verizon Wireless.

"Our organization helps domestic violence and sexual assault victims escape situations they're in and better their lives. So, this money will go towards furthering that," stated Amelia Parks of SAFE Incorporated.

Tupelo High School students are also working with SAFE to raise awareness about domestic violence.
