TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — People in unincorporated areas of Lee County cannot burn anything outside until July 20 due to the dry conditions.
County Administrator Sean Thompson said Monday in a news release the burn ban was granted by the Mississippi Forestry Commission at the request of the county Board of Supervisors.
The sheriff's department will enforce the ban.
Anyone caught violating the ban can be charged with a misdemeanor and fined from $100 to $500.
