BOONEVILLE,Miss.-(WTVA) Booneville and Corinth residents were covered with snow as well with seemingly more on the ground the further North you traveled.
In Booneville, MDOT snowplows were clearing off bridges followed closely by dump trucks spreading gravel to make in easier for motorists.
Despite their best efforts law enforcement officials were reporting at least seven minor accidents with no injuries with many of them sliding off the road.
Some were taking it easy as we talked with several motorists.
I think its o.k. but I'm really not accustomed to it"
"I don't suggest driving in it, once you hit the Prentiss county it gets worse real slushy real icy I don't suggest gettin' out in it it's too cold."
But north of Prentiss county into Corinth the snow was a lot deeper. I found one man walking through the park just to see what it was like.
"I'm just out here walking around."
He wasn't the only one curious about the snow as one restaurant cook took advantage of the situation.
"We got plenty of snow and plenty of food come on and get you some."
But while some may have enjoyed the snow, the winter mix was anything but fun for a truck driver stuck in a nearby parking lot for an entire morning until he could get a wrecker.
"I've been sitting here since around seven so 7a.m. ? . "They said they were so busy they just couldn't get anyone to me in time."
By early afternoon, the snow had turned to rain here in Corinth creating a very thick and slushy ice on the roadways and bridges.
But according to the Alcorn county sheriff's department there were no serious accidents or inuries .. That's good news especially for those who had a day off. Two boys rode by on bicycles and talked to us about it.
"Ya'll enjoying this snow are you? Yes sir, had a day off huh? "I'm glad". said one of the youngsters.
