TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- You can bet these folks don't eat cheeseburgers!

The inaugural Total Body Championships competition is an opportunity for serious bodybuilders to show off all their hard work.

The competition kicked off Saturday morning at the Tupelo Performing Arts Center on the Tupelo High School campus.

The National Physique Committee backs the effort of two die hard body builders who operate a gym in Ripley.

Competitors traveled from eight states to compete.

"We always try to encourage health and fitness. My husband and I live it. We breathe it. We sleep it. We eat it. You name it. We do it. It's our life," Coordinator Judy Gaillard said.

"I am so excited. It's been a long journey for us training and getting ready for the event," Tiffany Edwards said.

"I believe that every competitor when they step on that stage they're the best that they look and they have to remember they are competing against themselves," Kwame Williams said.

Organizers say this is the first bodybuilding show competition to be held in north Mississippi.
