BALDWYN, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Baldwyn timber company has announced it will expand operations and bring more jobs to the community.
Officials with Maple Land and Timber and the Mississippi Development Authority say they are expanding operations at American Land and Timber to produce lumber for overseas markets.
Officials say the plan includes the construction of a 20,000 square-foot facility and the addition of a new sawmill.
Maple Land and Timber is investing $1.95 million in the plant and says the expansion will create 38 new jobs.
American Land and Timber began operating in Prentiss County in 1984.
The company produces hardwood and pine lumber for domestic and foreign markets, as well as pallet materials and crossties.
