COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle has achieved silver certification from the Mississippi Cancer Registry based on the hospital’s submission of complete and high-quality data.
Baptist Golden Triangle submitted at least 90 percent of its expected volume of cancer cases diagnosed and/or receiving the first course of treatment at the hospital and less than 3 percent of the hospital’s cancer cases reported were missing crucial information such as age, sex or city of residence at the time of diagnosis.
Less than 5 percent of cancer cases were missing race.
The purpose of the award is to recognize hospitals for submitting information so that the Mississippi Cancer Registry can effectively monitor the amount of cancer cases in the state.
“We are proud of our Baptist Cancer Center staff for achieving this national standard,” said Paul Cade, administrator and CEO of Baptist Golden Triangle. “Maintaining up-to-date data is crucial to the health of Mississippi.”
This year’s certification is based on diagnosis data from 2011.
Baptist Golden Triangle has 315 patient bed and is the largest regional hospital affiliated with the Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care system.
