TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The 13th Annual Azalea Festival continued Saturday afternoon at Veterans Park in Tupelo.
The festival was free of charge, as always, and the crowds were good as residents came to take part in what organizers say is one of the largest festivals in north Mississippi.
This year, they say there were a variety of activities for residents.
"We had live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors," event coordinator Keith Henley said. "We've got different events and activities for people to participate in. We have a 5K race. We had a Little Miss Azalea Bud beauty pageant Friday night. We [also] had our first-ever push mower race Saturday afternoon."
Henley said the event was started to coincide with the Azalea Tour that is sponsored each year by the Presley Heights organization.
That tour will take place next week.
