Turland left family members a note saying he was leaving along with his house key.
Authorities say he suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, is bipolar, and has the mind of a 12-year-old.
Turland was last seen the night of March 21 walking in the Burnsville area of Tishomingo County.
Investigators believe he may be heading to Athens, Tennessee where he has family and friends.
Turland was wearing black jeans, a black and gray hoodie, black tennis shoes and a black and camouflage coat.
They say Turland had a black and silver backpack with a handle and wheels and may be wearing a baseball cap with the Tasmanian Devil cartoon logo.
