LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Winston County officials say a child is still missing from a tornado that hit the community Monday.

The coroner says nine people died after suffering multiple injuries when the storm hit.

They are identified as Ruth Bennett, 53, Dora Triplett, 64, Katherine Ferguson, 55, Gregory Jernigan, 60, Sarah Massey, 85,  Jerry Carter, 61,  Leonard Carter, 38, Terri Tucker, 31 and Sean Fowler, 44.

Officials say they have not been able to get a count on the number of people who were injured, because of the damage to the Winston Medical Center.

They say the hospital, despite being damaged, continued to see patients needing emergency care, and some people were transported to other hospitals.

Emergency officials say some people may have been carried to medical centers in neighboring counties in private vehicles.

The National Weather Service says the Louisville tornado reached 185 miles per hour, classifying it as an EF-4 tornado.
