PARCHMAN, Miss. (WTVA) -- An inmate has escaped from the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.

He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

The 48-year old man has brown eyes, brown hair and weighs 195 pounds.

Dowda is serving a life sentence for murder from Harrison County.

Authorities urge anybody who sees Dowda to contact local law enforcement.
