NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Crystil M. Byers, 27, of Myrtle, was escorted by law enforcement into a courtroom Friday.

Union County Deputy Clinton Frazier was killed Wednesday night while on-duty.

Investigators say he lost his life while attempting to pull over a vehicle driven by Byers.

"She's been charged with culpable negligent manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. A felony that failed to render aide," said Sheriff Jimmy Edwards.

Byers, was arrested after law enforcement received a vehicle description the following morning, and her bond is set at $375,000.

What happened when Frazier tried to pull over Byers remains under investigation.

"This just proves our theory that he was in the line-of-duty. He was doing his job at the time of his death. It wasn't just a freak accident," Edwards said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are working together to put pieces together, and re-create what happened December 18.

Their findings will presented to a grand jury.

"We just can't thank Chief Chris Robertson and Mississippi Highway Patrol enough for their support during this time and for their continued effort to bring this person to justice," said Edwards.
