JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Supreme Court will not review the appeal of a Memphis man serving time in connection with a Smithville bank robbery.
Joe Solomon Pruitt, 29, of Memphis and two other men were arrested the day after the Renasant Bank was robbed in March of 2006.
Pruitt was convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison following a trial in Monroe County Circuit Court.
He filed a motion for post-conviction relief claiming one of the men arrested with him had signed an affidavit claiming Pruitt did not plan or participate in the robbery.
The judge denied the motion saying the affidavit was not enough to change the evidence presented at trial or change the verdict because another person testified Pruitt took part in the robbery.
Pruitt appealed to the Mississippi Court of Appeals, who denied his petition in January.
