COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Court of Appeals will not rehear the case of a man who claims his indictment in an armed robbery case violates double jeopardy laws.
Ronald Gene Johnston, 60, is serving 90 years after pleading guilty to three counts of armed robbery in Lowndes County Circuit Court in 1983.
He appealed in 2011 claiming the robbery of one incident and his sentence was a violation of double jeopardy laws.
In July, the Mississippi Court of Appeals ruled because he took items from three individuals during the robbery, the charges and sentence were appropriate under law.
