SALTILLO, Miss. (WTVA) --A domestic dispute call leads Saltillo Police to arrest a 20-year-old man in connection with at least four auto burglaries in the city.
This is the fifth person in the last few weeks arrested for breaking into cars.
Thursday night, police arrested Javon Southward after he reportedly pulled a gun on his mom.
Investigators say they found stolen merchandise hidden in his bedroom closet after a search of an apartment.
"We've recovered iPads, iPods, XBOX, phones, GPS, knives, money," said Police Chief Steve Brooks, Saltillo.
Authorities discovered the items had been stolen from several cars only walking distance from Southward's home.
Back in October, Saltillo resident Frank Breaux had a gun stolen from his car.
"We were fixing to go on vacation and I told my wife 'oh I got to go and get that gun out of there.' When I went out there it was gone and a box of ammo with it," said Breaux.
At the time of the interview, Breaux had no idea someone was arrested in his neighborhood for breaking into cars.
Breaux rushed to the police station after WTVA.com informed him guns were recovered in the arrest.
"Yep that's it," Breaux said smiling at the police station.
While police have located the owners of some of the merchandise, some things were never reported stolen making it difficult for police to return the items to the rightful owner.
