PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - For people who like to saddle up and experience what life was like in the Wild West, the annual J.D. Brown Memorial Trail Ride provides that opportunitfy.

Around 50 people rode horseback on the grounds at the Longbow Trails in Pontotoc County.

The scenic tour takes people around ponds and gives them a chance to experience nature and the outdoors in a historic setting while riding on saddle or quarter horses.

The 12th annual event is a fundraiser for St. Jude Hospital and was recently named after someone who cared about children and the outdoors.

"He loved children," adds Sarah Brown, wife of the late J.D. Brown. "He loved helping children and St. Jude had a special place in his heart. I am so proud that we can go on and carry on and continue to help St. Jude."

Following the trail ride was a lunch and auction where all items on display were donated.

100 percent of the proceeds raised goes directly to St. Jude Hospital.
