COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- It's a big score and Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge knows it.

A deputy spotted two men trying to break into a house off Ridge Road in Columbus.

"Just really great that we had a good officer aware of his environment-that was able to put us into this and where it led with the cooperation we got," Lt. Ryan Rickert said.

Behind bars are Eddie Anthony Williams, 28, and Steven Deshun Blevins, 30, both of Columbus.

Investigators say nine burglaries may be involved in the case.

Authorities say it makes their jobs much easier when property owners have serial numbers.

Those who did linked merchandise to burglaries in Alabama.

"Anytime that you can put your serial number down, tv's or your weapons, or you make a record of anything-that's very good. But, the main thing is just be cautious. Keep your eyes open and report anything to 9-1-1 that seems suspicious," Sheriff Mike Arledge said.

The sheriff's department is relieved that at least some residents can rest easier with the burglary suspects behind bars.

"Hopefully, getting these two behind bars will help this community and this area because we feel like they have been probably involved in a majority of the burglaries in this area. So, this is going to be a real good arrest," Sheriff Arledge added.

"To get something like this-I'm hoping will set the community at calm knowing that we've got these gentlemen in jail," Lt. Rickert added.

Sheriff Arledge says more arrests may be made as this investigation continues.
