Alabama reports 14 fatalities during the holiday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVA) -- Alabama State Troopers report 14 people died in traffic accidents in the state between December 22 and January 2.

The deaths were reported in 13 traffic accidents.

In Pickens County, Demetrice Dewayne Walker, 31, of Northport and Kenneth Dewayne Duncan, 29, of Carrolton died on December 29.

Authorities say the two were fleeing police when their car collided head-on with another vehicle on Highway 17 south of Reform.

Another fatality was reported in Lamar County.

17 people died during the same period last year.
