The 250-by-400 square foot spot has just about everything it needs to attract a big business.
"This is a pad-ready site, which means enviornmental and footing and foundations and all have been fixed to the proper degree," says Aberdeen Mayor Jim Ballard. "If we had a prospect come in today, he could actually come in and begin construction tommorow on this site."
"With everything that's going on in Tupelo and Columbus, Toyota and all that's going on in the Golden Triangle and their economic development activites, we just feel like being close to those two large markets should help us market this site," says Tony Green, the executive director of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce.
Officials tout the site's amenities, such as proximity to the highway, a water tank nearby and utilities.
At a cost of $350,000, they see it as a worthwhile investment.
The Appalachian Regional Commission put up 70 percent of the money.
'This puts them about six months ahead in the game," says Appalachian Regional Commission Director Mike Armour. "If somebody needs to come in and be a tier one supplier or tier two supplier, they can come in and jump on and go."
