LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) — Two people were taken to a hospital after an 18 wheeler and a car crashed into one another on Highway 78 between Belden and Sherman.
Emergency responders were called before 7 p.m. Monday night.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol says 50-year-old Shirley Thomas of Blue Mountain was driving the car west when the accident happened.
According to Trooper Ray Hall, Thomas was cut out of the car and taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with serious injuries.
Hall adds the tractor-trailer, driven by 58-year-old Randle Adams of Douglas, Ga., was heading west as well.
Adams also went to NMMC in Tupelo, but the MHP says he suffered minor injuries.
The highway was cleared around 9:30 p.m.
