School officials confirm student died in plane crash

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- Ole Miss officials confirm a student was among those killed in a plane crash in Prentiss County on Sunday.

Mitchell Diggs issued a statement identifying Caroline Bartley as a sophomore biological science major.

The Columbus, Georgia resident was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.

Diggs says her parent's, Joseph and Terry Bartley, also died in the crash.

Ole Miss Dean of Students Sparky Reardon says, "The university is always saddened when we lose one of our students. Caroline was special to many people here and she will be missed. The prayers and thoughts of the entire university family go out to all who were all close to her."

NTSB officials were expected to arrive in Prentiss County Monday morning to begin their investigation into the crash.
