Repairs to water system lead to boil notice

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The City of Starkville has issued a boil water notice for some customers of the Old West Point Road Water Association.

Crews are currently working to repair a water leak affecting service to Old West Point Road, Garrad Road, Sycamore Road, Walnut Road, and Chestnut Road in the Long Meadows Subdivision.

Officials with with Starkville Water and Sewer Department say the water is expected to be restored to the affected areas Wednesday evening.

Customers affected by the loss of water should boil water for at least one minute before drinking.

Water samples will be collected and the notice will remain in effect until further notice.
