REDWOOD, Miss. (WTVA) -- Alligator season opened over the weekend, and someone snagged a record catch.
A 13-foot gator was caught Sunday, weighing in at 727 pounds.
The discovery was made in the Mississippi River.
Right now, it holds the weight record for an alligator caught by a Mississippi hunter in a state hunting season.
Alligator hunting has been allowed by the state since 2005.
The current season ends on Sept. 9.
