HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan (WTVA) -- The Department of Defense announced Thursday the death of a Marine from Mississippi.
22-year-old Lance Cpl. Edward J. Dycus of Greenville died Wednesday while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.
Dycus was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.
The incident is under investigation.
