STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA/AP) - Mississippi State freshmen Nick Schuessler and Adarrius Perkins are no longer with the team.

A 6'4", 190-pound quarterback, Schuessler was a late signee from Loganville, Ga., and was enrolled in summer school at Mississippi State. His departure leaves the Bulldogs with just two scholarship quarterbacks for the upcoming season - junior Tyler Russell and redshirt freshman Dak Prescott.

Schuessler led Grayson High School to a 15-0 record and Class 5A Georgia State Championship his senior season, throwing for 1,853 yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 297 yards and five touchdowns.

Freshman wide receiver Adarrius Perkins is also no longer with the team.

Perkins, who is from Hattiesburg, played high school football at Forrest County AHS. As a senior, Perkins rushed for 193 yards (31 carries) and caught 22 passes for 475 yards, scoring a total of 12 offensive touchdowns (6 rushing, 6 receiving).

A Mississippi State spokesman confirmed that both Schuessler and Perkins would not be with the team in the fall, but did not comment on any potential reasons behind their departure.

Schuessler and Perkins join redshirt freshman offensive lineman Nick Redmond as Bulldog players who have left the team in the last week.
