Firefighter injured battling fire

GRENADA COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) _ A Gore Springs Volunteer Firefighter has been released from the hospital after a section of roof collapsed on him will battling a house fire Monday night.

County Fire Coordinator Mickey Trussell tells WTVA.com the fire was reported around 6 p.m. on Berry Circle in the Knoxville community.

Trussell says the fire had spread through the home and two cars were burning under the carport when firefighters arrived.

He says the fireman was under the carport when the section collapsed.

Trussell says he was airlifted to the Med in Memphis but was released this morning after a complete examination.

Another firefighter suffered smoke inhalation, but was treated at the scene of the fire.

Trussell says the home and both cars were destroyed.
