TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Dozens of demonstrators gathered in Downtown Tupelo Thursday to support Judge Ricky Thompson

Protesters are upset because they've heard that the judicial performance commission has voted to remove him from the bench.

But as of now, Judge Thompson remains on the bench as the only African American Judge in Lee County Justice Court.

Protesters say they'll continue protesting for as long as it takes.

"We are here to ask God to give us justice for our brother on behalf of the community and we give thanks to the community for their support, for coming out and we are asking everybody to stand with us for justice," said Conway Goree.

Tupelo council members also spoke during the demonstration including, Councilman Willie Jennings and Councilwomen NettieDavis.
